What's about all these Spam threads?

Spam from users who have joined years ago, made some posts and are inactive for years now emerge back to surface with spam threads for dating sites?
Do they get hacked?

Would it be advisory to set those old accounts, inactive for more than 1 year to a proper "inactive" state, so before able to post anything new, you have to verify your email again?

What else could be done to prevent such spam?

 

I keep reporting, but I won't continue forever, this forum feels pretty much dead to me, to be honest. Let's hope everyone at Kunos is focused on AC2.

 

Yes, I'm reporting as well and I wish there was more presence of someone at Kunos.

 

It's not only here - I see the same pattern on other forums, too (dating spam from old users accounts).

 

What's wrong with a bit of online dating shoved in your face?

Sometimes, you don't know you need love until it's thrust upon you.

 

At least you will have more free time to do that when the hacker takes your forum and probably steam account as well.

I'm a mod on another forum. A bot farm got a hold of one of those email/password leaks and have been hammering them. Forum of 3m or so accounts we get anywhere from 5 to 30 of these per day. Mostly just whack a mole unfortunately.

 

I'm fully aware, that these are not new accounts but leaked accounts.

That's why I asked:

I doubt a bot would be able to verify the email.

 

Thats exactly what we do with those accounts on my other forum. The site admins on that site are reluctant to do a force change on everyone inactive just because its so large, but this forum being much smaller maybe they would do it.

 

The "admins" is essentially Panky doing this work, I'd rather have him focus on ACC/AC2 than dealing with this, just don't click on spam threads, problem solved.

 

Spam threads convey of feeling of abandon and derelict state so I want them deleted asap.

 

I want them not to show up at all.
Imho it is better to inject a preventive layer once for inactive accounts before new postings than to run after each bot posted spam.
